Podcast: Postseason thoughts, offseason opportunities

The offseason is in full swing for UConn football, and it's an important one.

Editor’s Note: Thank you for your patience as we went on hiatus following the bowl game. We’ve been super encouraged by the following and support so far of over 500 subscribers and about as many listeners for the podcast every time it comes out - sometimes more!

The Husky Football Forum is excited to resume and keep going through the offseason before launching in an upgraded format in the fall — when we will be in attendance at every single UConn game, home and away!

On to the podcast…

In the olden days, if a new college football coach had a great first year, the feelings for the next year would be to build on that foundation for the long run. Back then, it might even be okay if the win total doesn’t go up in Year Two after a good first year. Success on the field translates to success on national signing day which translates to more success on the field, was how it went.

Today, in the era of the transfer portal, the missive going into Year Two is a bit different. Jim Mora and his staff need to capitalize on the success of 2022, specifically in the transfer portal (They seem to be doing a good job so far).

Most fans are going to want to see more than six wins in 2023.

Improving the roster to meet heightened standards is the focus for UConn after ending the season at the Myrtle Beach Bowl. The Huskies didn’t have much on the line in that game, except for a shot at their first winning season since 2010. By all accounts, Mora’s opening campaign was a resounding success. The ending could’ve been better, but who are we to complain?

In this episode of the podcast, Luke and Aman discuss the end of the season, expectations for next year, roster moves, and the 2023 schedule. Enjoy!
